Record a meeting, then forget about it
Matsiya wanted its users to record meetings on their phone or computer, then receive a transcript and summary by email from its AI pipeline. The same experience had to exist on three platforms, built by a single developer.
Three native apps, one flow
An iOS app in SwiftUI, a macOS app that also captures system audio, and an Android app in Jetpack Compose. Each app records locally, then uploads the file in chunks to the backend, which starts the transcription.
What could go wrong
- 01Interrupted uploads
Resumable uploads (tus protocol): an hour-long meeting picks up where it stopped after a network drop.
- 02Video-call audio on Mac
System audio captured with ScreenCaptureKit and mixed with the microphone, to record Zoom or Meet calls.
- 03Recording with the screen off on Android
A foreground service keeps recording when the phone locks.
Live on both stores
All three apps shipped in four months and are available on the App Store and Google Play. I then handled a round of fixes in autumn 2025.
